No email, no control over your energy contract

Mr. V (81 years old) from Katwijk had once taken out a contract with Budget Energie (BE) via telephone sales. So far no problems. For years the gentleman was supplied with gas and electricity, but especially during the time when energy prices had risen enormously, the gentleman's bill also increased enormously. As it turned out, he previously had a permanent contract of 2 years, but after that time BE had converted his contract into a variable contract. As long as prices do not rise excessively, there is nothing wrong with that. The gentleman called in SA to find out what was going on. It soon became apparent that Budget Energie makes all kinds of choices for you if you do not respond to alleged email requests. But the gentleman has no email at all and BE does not have his address. Because of this fact, SA has managed to conclude a permanent contract at much more favorable rates. There also appeared to be no unwillingness on BE's part, but there was a self-evidence about how they communicate with customers. Arranged for the future that the email from Mr. V's neighbor is used for reporting. Not ideal, but apparently the only practical solution
