Mrs. D (83 years old) from The Hague lost her husband in 2022 after a long period of illness. After all matters regarding the death had been arranged, the lady received a letter about formalities that would lead to the payment of the partner’s pension. All actions that the pension fund requested to be completed were all matters that could be completed via computer or telephone. However, the lady did not have a mobile phone and so the process came to a complete standstill. To resolve matters, family contacted us via email, but without success. After almost a whole year, no benefits had been paid out, while Mrs.’s income had fallen drastically after the death of her husband, only AOW was received. After SA was called in, contact was made with the pension fund, all relevant documents were submitted and the outstanding amount of more than 25,000 euros of a full year’s partner’s pension was paid out urgently. The monthly payment is then also in order. To prevent something like this from ever happening again, SA has provided a tablet and an email address for Mrs. So that people in her area can help her more easily. Although she did not expect to ever become proficient on the tablet, she has come to see the usefulness of having a device where others can help her fairly easily, which turned out to be the barrier initially.
