Mr. Van der M. (77 years old) from Hoek van Holland was entitled to energy allowance given his income. But annoyingly, the gentleman was unable to apply for the allowance. Even through the ‘library’ they could not help Mr. After SA was called in, we discovered the difficulty Mr. van der M had to contend with. The gentleman did not have a mobile phone, email or digID. However, it soon became apparent that the government does have a solution for this, but not a simple one. The conformation code that is required after requesting DigID can also be requested via a landline by means of a voice code conversation. Something that is very specialized and very unsuitable for people without a mobile phone and/or email. This is another textbook example of how vulnerable people are not seen by our government. In consultation with family, we discussed that the gentleman needed a mobile phone for these types of matters, and they took action. Mr. van der M has received his allowance.
