Want to move and then it turns out that it is better not to move

Family M. from Wassenaar sent SA a request to help and coordinate a move from their spacious apartment to an apartment close to a nursing home. Mr. M could no longer live at home due to the effects of Alzheimer's. Even with the extensive 'home care' that the family had had available for a few years. At least that was the perception. Because after the moving process had started and plans had already been made to put the apartment up for sale, something remarkable happened. SA had discussions between the companies with Mrs. M who indicated that she was not very enthusiastic about the plans. And it soon turned out that the plan, well-intentioned, came from the children, who had assumed that this had to be the solution. SA had discussions with the nursing home and it soon became apparent that the care the family now had was of a higher quality and intensity than what could be offered in the nursing home. This put the plan in a different light. SA, together with Mrs. M and the children, re-examined the situation and ultimately the move was decided against. Care at home has been slightly adjusted and better coordinated with some practical solutions. Initially the children were a bit surprised, but Mrs. M was very pleased. And later the children also came to realize that the mother's well-being had been lost sight of and in this way prevented a major disappointment.
